Papiers Collés (collages)
"I have to say that I love Cecil’s work, which is a kind of suprematist verbo-visual collage where letterforms are reduced almost beyond recognition as characters of texts. There’s a heft to his work and a sense of obvious mystery that I love." Geof Huth
"What we have here is a specialist. Actually I like to think of artists like this as scientists. Here's Cecil Touchon in his studio/laboratory now, exploring the nether regions of his oeuvre. And what he's been studying is collage, shapes and form. There's a lot of Ying and Yang to his work; black and white, bright vs dark, positive and negative space and the placement of shapes, all vying for attention and yet coalescing into lovely symphonies and songs of visual delight. All of it seems to be alive, vibrant. Some pieces almost writhe and wiggle with excitement. Why haven't we heard or seen more of him ?
And under the Exhibitions heading, you'll absolutely want to check out his Solo Exhibitions. What struck me as fascinating was the similar flavor there is between Cecil's work and that of Ciao Fonseca. Check it out - you'll see what I mean. We're talking two different approaches and types of work and yet there is a kinship. Go to Ciao Fonseca's site here."
